Mebapen SP — Suspending Pencil Bait for Subsurface Game

Unlike the original floating Mebapen, which stays on the surface,
the Mebapen SP is designed to suspend just below the surface, keeping a natural horizontal posture for extended periods.

Equipped with tungsten weights, it quickly settles beneath the surface right after splashdown, blending naturally into the water and holding a stable suspending state.

Why Suspending?
There are times when target fish such as Mebaru (rockfish) show interest in the surface but avoid striking lures that float directly on top.
This often happens under:
High fishing pressure
Weak or slowing currents

In these situations, working the subsurface layer becomes the key, and the suspending model fully demonstrates its effectiveness.

How to Use：

Range Control:
Retrieve or add subtle rod work to let the lure slightly rise while suspending with a faint sinking tendency.

Twitching:
Light twitch → Quick head shake with almost no forward movement, perfect for pinpoint appeal.
Stronger twitch → Short left-right sliding darts.
Dead-Slow Retrieve → Creates an S-shaped swimming action.

Stop & Go, or drifting with the current → Highly effective when fish are inactive or reluctant.

Best suited for conditions when:
No surface strikes occur
The bait is small (fry, shrimp)

Fish are feeding on micro-organisms like “Ami” (planktonic shrimp/krill)

In such scenarios, the Mebapen SP’s subtle suspending appeal below the surface triggers bites without fish needing to break the surface.
