Product Introduction:
The most powerful model in the TRUTH JAPAN lineup, designed for solo fights against giant bluefin tuna exceeding 200 kg in the Tsugaru Strait.

7 ft 4 in / Designed for PE #12–15

In 2022, after numerous battles with bluefin tuna exceeding 170 kg in the Tsugaru Strait, we began developing a concept for an entirely new rod.

“Our goal: to take on bluefin tuna over 200 kg and land them in a solo fight.”

This rod is designed to deliver more than sheer strength. Key design priorities include:
⦁Power and action that work in harmony with the support provided by the boat
⦁A balanced power profile suited to fighting fish in the powerful currents of the strait
⦁Appropriate rod travel and bending fulcrums when the tuna changes direction
⦁The action and structural strength required to withstand even greater loads
⦁A material configuration that absorbs shock and reduces physical strain when holding the rod high during prolonged fights

(Light weight is not a design priority for this model. Its blank construction makes extensive use of fiberglass.)

After numerous discussions and exchanges with Captain Kikuchi of STEEL in Hakodate, we challenged ourselves to develop a completely different construction from our previous models. This is the first prototype of that new approach.

Characteristics of the Existing Lineup
● One-piece construction with a continuous blank extending to the end of the grip
Model: WhiteInsight 611 12
During a fight, the reel seat or the gripping area of the foregrip acts as the fulcrum. The blank flexes slightly all the way toward the rear grip, allowing the entire rod to absorb and distribute the load.

Above all, this construction offers outstanding resistance to breakage.

As a result, anglers can apply heavy pressure while reducing the physical strain on their bodies. The shorter rod length also provides additional advantages.

However, experienced anglers accustomed to powerful fights may find the lifting power somewhat less direct in certain situations. This can happen when lifting the fish vertically beneath the boat or when the tuna is brought within the final dozen or so meters, makes a wide turn, and emerges from beneath the boat. As the rod bends all the way into the foregrip, the load is distributed across more of the rod, which can make the lifting power feel less concentrated.

The shorter length also limits the available lifting stroke, which may feel insufficient for anglers who prefer to overpower hard-fighting fish aggressively.

Because the packed length is relatively long, transportation can occasionally be inconvenient. (However, this has not caused any issues during domestic air travel in Japan.)

● Two-piece construction with a detachable grip
Model: WhiteInsight 7610
Even under heavy loads, the grip section barely bends. The rod's flex is concentrated between a point roughly 10–15 cm above the foregrip and the butt guide.

With a substantial amount of relatively rigid blank remaining in the butt section, this design delivers exceptional lifting power.

When a tuna changes direction, timing the lift to match its direction of travel allows the angler to guide the fish's head more smoothly, responding effectively to the angler's input.

However, during prolonged fights, the long, rigid butt section places the fighting fulcrum farther away from the angler, which can lead to greater physical fatigue. In close quarters with a tuna, the rod may also struggle to absorb a sudden, powerful surge, potentially allowing the angler to be overpowered.

Compared with the one-piece construction of the 611 12, its resistance to breakage is slightly lower. (Nevertheless, this design has never resulted in a rod breakage to date.)

For this new prototype, arguably the most powerful model in our tuna-casting lineup, we set out to combine the best characteristics of these two existing models into a single design.

Grip Joint Construction:
This joint design was developed to combine the flex and shock-absorbing properties of the one-piece WhiteInsight 61112 with the powerful butt-section lifting strength of the grip-jointed WhiteInsight 7610 in a single rod.

Anglers who have experienced long fights will likely be familiar with a joint that becomes difficult to separate afterward. When fighting a fish with the rod held high, downward force is applied to the joint, causing the connection to gradually seat more deeply and become increasingly tight.

The construction of the new WhiteInsight 7415 makes this more likely to occur, so an EVA ring is fitted between the joint sections.

Always use the rod with the EVA ring properly inserted during fishing, and remove the ring after the fight.

(If the joint becomes difficult to separate, cooling it can make removal easier. Apply a cold spray or place the rod in a large refrigerator at your usual tackle shop.)

The number of EVA rings supplied depends on the fit of each individual rod, which is checked one by one. Some rods are supplied with two rings, while others require only one. Spare EVA rings are also available.

After repeated prolonged fights or extended use, the joint may gradually seat more deeply, reducing the gap between the EVA grips. If this occurs, including if an EVA ring is lost, please contact the shop where you purchased the rod for assistance.

Guide Specifications:
All guides feature stainless-steel MNSG guides, delivering outstanding strength and reliability.

Guide and Thread Specifications

Guides: All stainless steel
PMNST16 / PMNSG16 × 2 / PMNSG20 / PMNSG25 / PMNSG30 / PMNSG40

As this is a TUNA model designed for battling tuna, prolonged fights are expected.

Stainless-steel guides are used to withstand the continuous loads and repeated impacts encountered during extended fights, providing dependable durability under demanding conditions.

For the 7210, 8210, 7610, and 7415 models, which are expected to handle higher loads and longer fights, additional finishing work has been applied to ensure the thread coating fits more tightly against the guide feet.

All guides feature underwrapping.

To improve casting feel, the underwraps have been kept as narrow as possible.

Casting accounts for much of the time spent in casting games, and every cast matters. To ensure casting distance never becomes a source of frustration, we pay close attention to line flow and have refined the guide setup through extensive field testing.

After a prolonged fight, or after repeated battles with tuna, pay particular attention to checking guides No. 25, 30, and 40 for any looseness.

To check, hold the frame on both sides of the guide and gently move it from side to side to see whether it wobbles.

If any looseness is found, we offer a paid service to rewrap and secure the guide.
