Stronger, farther, and more effective topwater game.
A large Puppet with a weight transfer system.
The Puppet More is a rare topwater plug for area trout fishing, equipped with a “weight transfer system.”
It inherits the DNA of the Puppet Surface, known for its flexibility in adjusting to fish behavior, but has been scaled up to cover situations that were previously harder to handle. With stronger appeal power and longer casting ability, it allows you to draw fish from farther points. When used in combination with Puppet Surface, it lets you adjust more effectively to the changing moods of fish, making topwater fishing more exciting and effective.
Features:
Although it looks like a crankbait with a lip, it is actually a topwater plug controlled mainly by rod action, producing sharp and tricky movements.
Best timing is when the water surface shows disturbance, such as sunlight, wind ripples, insect hatches, falling leaves or petals, fish focusing on pellets, and during dawn or dusk.
Effective Situations:
✔ When targeting fish farther offshore efficiently
✔ When you want to draw fish up to the surface
✔ When inducing fish smoothly from deeper water
✔ When wind causes ripples, creating feeding triggers
✔ When conditions like water temp, light, or wind are not ideal, but you want to pull out active fish
Weight Transfer System:
Increased casting distance → access to more fish
Stable flight posture → stable action immediately after landing
Increased appeal → unique knocking sound from weight balls
The internal chamber is shaped like a Japanese “ノ” character, ensuring the weight ball always returns to the correct position right after landing. This secures both casting distance and immediate action start.
Hooking Optimization:
Normally, as a lure gets larger, the distance between front and rear hooks increases, reducing hook-up rates.
The Puppet More shifts the rear hook hanger forward, shortening the gap between hooks, making strikes feel more solid and hook-ups more reliable.
Action & Hooking Control:
Puppet Surface was designed for versatile appeal—both subtle and strong. It could even be worked with short dives and floating pauses for more strategies.
Puppet More follows the same concept:
If strong action causes missed bites → tone it down
If weak action fails to trigger strikes → strengthen the action
By switching between Puppet Surface and Puppet More, you can cover more situations thoroughly and adapt strategically to fish behavior on the surface.
Main Retrieval Methods:
By varying action types, their strength, and rhythm, you can adjust to different levels of trout activity.
It is also effective to mix multiple actions within a single cast.
① Splashdown → Pause
The first few seconds after the lure lands on the water are the initial strike chance.
To respond immediately to bites right after splashdown, retrieve the slack line softly—not too tight, but loosely—either during the cast or just as the lure hits the water.
② Tip Action → Pause
When you want to appeal in a short range with a persistent presentation, short-pitch rod tip actions are effective.
They make it easier for trout to lock onto the lure and strike, and the bites transmit clearly to the rod, making this method effective even in low-visibility or tough sight-fishing conditions.
③ Stroke Action → Pause
For efficiently covering a wider area, use downward rod strokes to give the lure slightly longer travel distance.
Since trout often chase from far away, extending the pause at times is also important.
④ Shake → Pause
By tapping or shaking the rod tip, you can create a 3D table-turning action, making the lure dart between the surface and just below.
This allows you to entice fish within shorter travel distances, and it’s especially useful when other actions fail to trigger bites or when you want to force a strike in a key spot.
