IMO GRUB 90
Want to cast farther, reach deeper waters, and penetrate heavy cover more effectively?
The Imo Grub 90 is the maximum-size model designed to meet those demands.
It redefines no-sinker fishing by delivering a more aggressive, power-oriented approach.

Breaking Tough Conditions with No Action
The Gary Yamamoto brand pioneered the “Imo Grub” category.
Originally derived from cutting off a grub’s tail, this shape evolved into its own unique lure genre, spawning many imitations across the industry.
Smith has designed a dedicated model, not just a simple tail-cut, but a refined Imo Grub specifically optimized for performance, delivered under the original Gary Yamamoto brand.
Development Concept
Enhanced Slide Fall & Castability
The hallmark of the Imo Grub is its slide fall action.
This dedicated model emphasizes a rear-weighted design, further improving slide fall motion while also enhancing casting performance.
However, an overly tapered body can reduce hook-up performance with offset hooks.
If the hook point section is too thick, the hook gap narrows, leading to missed strikes.
Thus, the body taper was carefully designed to maintain hook-up efficiency.
As sizes increase (e.g., 40mm and above), the taper becomes gentler for this very reason.
Reduced Head Tearing
Since Imo Grubs are most often rigged no-sinker with offset hooks, casting forces concentrate on the head, which commonly leads to tearing.
By increasing the head diameter, durability is significantly improved.
While not indestructible, head tearing is reduced compared to previous designs.
Tactical Applications
Structure Fishing
The Imo Grub’s slide fall is perfect for penetrating tough cover.
Overhanging trees, docks, fishing platforms, or moored boats — by maintaining a “slack-but-not-loose” line tension, anglers can guide the Imo Grub precisely into key strike zones.
High-Pressure Lake Strategy
The Imo Grub doesn’t rely on strong appeal; instead, its low-impact presentation is highly effective against pressured bass.
Especially for wary fish or bass weakened by environmental factors,
methods like ultra-slow dragging or simply letting it sit on the bottom can trigger bites when nothing else works.
