Worm Designed for Free-Rig Chinning
Kowai Chew 2.8 inch
This worm combines highly responsive arm parts with a ring-structured body that grips water effectively. From the moment it enters the water, it begins to work and keeps moving continuously.
The hook slot ensures proper hook placement, while the body material is intentionally set slightly firm. This prevents the hook from shifting on short bites, allowing the lure to entice black sea bream (chinu) until a solid, deep bite occurs.
Concept
The free-rig style has become a booming method for chinning, particularly the unique semi-fixed sinker rig.
Kowai Chew was developed specifically for this technique, packing all key elements—size, action, material, and hooking efficiency—into one specialized worm.
Features
Full Ringed Body
The main body is covered with fine rings from head to tail, allowing it to grab water the moment it enters. Even at a complete standstill, it creates delicate movements with the slightest current.
Arm Parts
Compact curly-shaped arms provide high response, strong water displacement, and high-frequency action.
Positioned near the hook point, these arms take advantage of the black sea bream’s tendency to bite strong water-pushing parts, improving hook-up rates.
Material
The material is tuned to be as firm as possible without hindering action. Once triggered, black sea bream repeatedly bite; the firmness prevents shifting on short bites and keeps enticing them until the decisive deep bite.
Hook Setting
Reference hook size: Offset #2–#1
Recommended: Kowai Hook #1 or other out-point offset hooks in #1 size.
With this setup, the hook point can be neatly embedded into the tapered tail section for both concealment and effectiveness.
Micro-Vibration Mode
For different bait patterns or activity levels, the arm parts can be trimmed off (micro-vibration mode).
Even without the arms, the ringed body continues to catch water and move subtly, preventing fish from losing interest.
