The “Betsuchu Hiramasa,” originally developed for targeting yellowtail, is now equipped with SHIMANO’s proprietary Flash Boost technology. Even at the moment the lure rises after a jerk, the internal reflector continues to emit flashing, maintaining strong visual appeal.
New Weight Design for Improved Handling and Water Engagement
Compared to the original OCEA Pencil Betsuchu Hiramasa 220F, this model features a newly designed weight system with a more rear-biased balance and increased overall weight. The posture during the stay phase has been re-tuned accordingly.
This adjustment allows the lure to recover its posture more easily after jerking, reducing dive errors and enabling a more complex slalom swimming action.
Hook Setting Recommendations (Adjustable Based on Conditions)
When using treble hooks, a #4/0 size is recommended. However, front and rear hook sizes can be adjusted depending on wind and wave conditions. Fine-tuning based on actual lure action is recommended to achieve optimal performance.
For single hook setups, a weight of approximately 5–8 g per hook is recommended.
