Product Introduction:
Faster Sink Rate for Repeated Bottom Contact in DoTera Drifting
The deep-water DoTera drifting style, widely developed in the Kyushu area, relies on wind and current to drift the boat while deploying the line diagonally to cover a wide area.

The Engetsu Dotera Bakubaku was engineered as the optimal answer for this technique, with two key performance priorities.

First is sink rate. In DoTera fishing, how many times you can reach bottom in a single drift directly impacts results. Lightweight heads simply can’t compete.

That’s why the lineup focuses on heavier weights ranging from 80g to 250g.

The head adopts a rear-weighted, egg-sinker-style design, prioritizing rapid descent. Compared to the same-weight Tiger Bakubaku, it achieves approximately 15% faster sinking, approaching the performance of tungsten models.
This is a true performance upgrade for modern DoTera-style fishing.

Streamlined Design for Fast Drops and Effortless Retrieval in Deep Water
The second key feature is reduced retrieve resistance.
In DoTera fishing, strong currents increase drag significantly, leading to angler fatigue. Conventional shapes struggle to address this issue.

The Dotera Bakubaku features a rear-weighted body with a slim nose profile, effectively reducing drag during deep-water retrieves.

In practice, it feels as if you're retrieving a lighter lure, delivering a noticeably smoother and easier winding experience.

Fast bottom contact from the rear-weighted design, combined with low resistance from the streamlined nose, results in higher efficiency and better overall performance.

“Bakugake” Hook System – Designed to Hook from Both Inside and Outside
The lure features a specialized dual-hook system:
⦁Front hook: Iseama (in-turned point)
⦁Rear hook: Straight-point hook
⦁Built with heavy-duty thick wire construction
This system is designed based on how red seabream (madai) strike.
Since bites often occur near the head:
⦁The front hook is optimized to penetrate the lips or inside the mouth
⦁The rear hook targets the outer jaw area

This creates an ideal dual-point hook-up (inside + outside), significantly reducing lost fish.

Additionally, a stiffer assist cord is used to minimize tangling and improve reliability.
