・A PFD developed by kayak fishers for kayak fishing.
・The polyethylene buoyancy material is removable, so you can remove it and put it in a net to wash it in the washing machine. The lower half of the back does not contain buoyancy material so as not to interfere with the seat.
・Large capacity front pocket
(W16 x H21 x D5cm Meiho 3010 can be stored on each side)
・Equipped with knife holders on the right chest and both left and right shoulders.
・This product is a PFD (Personal Floatation Device) developed for kayak fishing. It is intended to assist buoyancy so that a conscious person who can swim can keep their face above the water if they fall into the water. ★ It is not a life jacket for sea rescue.
・This product functions by fitting to the body. Be sure to tighten all zippers, buckles, straps, etc.
・Buoyancy is 5.5 kg. The buoyancy has been deliberately reduced since it is assumed that the wearer will fall into the water and swim. (Clears ISO 4.2.4 level 50(N) 5.1kg)
Development story
We started kayak fishing in December 2007. At that time, we had launched a salt brand called LITTLE OCEAN, so we were wearing a floating vest for wading. We didn't feel any particular inconvenience. When we were about to make a PFD for kayak fishing in-house, we purchased a commercially available PFD for kayaking and got into a kayak for the first time, and realized the big difference between it and the floating vest for wading. It was a real "realization."
Simply put, it was the difference in ease of movement and fit. If we compare it to shoes, it's the difference between heavy hiking boots and running shoes. The reason was simple. The PFD for kayaking was lighter and more compact.
However, there was one thing that we were very dissatisfied with. That was the storage capacity. If you don't sink, the chest pocket of the PFD is convenient as a dry storage space. There are various disadvantages, such as it can get in the way of paddling or getting back on board. However, after wearing a large-capacity floating vest for wading, the capacity of the kayak PFD was very small.
So I made a large-capacity PFD for kayaking.
