A new-generation IS-series Bluegill bait featuring an innovative tail mechanism.
The Gillroid BT applies core big-bait technologies developed through lures such as the SG Plus, Android, and Ayuroid to faithfully recreate one of the most important forage patterns in modern bass fishing—the Bluegill.
Despite its compact 14 cm body length, the Gillroid BT features a thick, highly voluminous profile. This provides excellent casting performance even in headwinds while delivering the realistic profile and presence needed to trigger the predatory instincts of bass.
How to Use
Boots Tail — Designed for covering water
The original Boots Tail, newly developed for this Gill-type lure, is highly effective for covering large areas with a slow, steady retrieve and is fully compatible with the IS Variable Retrieve system.
The IS Variable Retrieve changes the lure's action dramatically according to retrieve speed:
Ultra-slow retrieve → I-shaped action
At extremely slow speeds, the Gillroid BT tracks naturally in a subtle, straight-line presentation, making it ideal for slowly searching large areas.
Full acceleration → Aggressive S-curve action
When the retrieve is suddenly accelerated, the lure shifts into a violent S-curve motion, imitating a baitfish desperately attempting to escape.
The key is to introduce a well-timed Kill (sudden stop) during this transition.
When the lure suddenly stops, its remaining momentum causes it to continue moving laterally, producing an inertial flashing and darting action from side to side.
This sequence of acceleration → kill → inertial flash/dart creates a unique, frantic escape action that can trigger explosive reaction strikes from bass.
Flat Tail — Designed for pinpoint presentations
The included Flat Tail offers an entirely different style of presentation.
It excels at extremely sharp and responsive quick-darting actions, allowing the lure to slash rapidly from side to side within a tight area—even producing an almost stationary, spinning-style action.
This makes it ideal for targeting precise spots around:
