Originating in Korea and popular in Lake Biwa, Japan, the Free Sinker Rig features a line that passes directly through the swivel of the sinker. When casting, the soft plastic worm and sinker are close together, making it easier to cast further and more accurately. After landing, the sinker separates from the soft plastic worm, creating a rig similar to a lead-free Carolina rig. This rig is suitable for freshwater bass, saltwater bream, and black sea bream.
The sinker is made of tungsten carbide, and the swivel is made of reinforced stainless steel.
