"If you could only take one, which one would you take?"
All Finch rods are developed and manufactured with this concept in mind.
The 76M was developed together with the previously released 66ML (spinning model).
If the 66ML is a small to medium-sized model, the 76ML is a model targeted at medium to large-sized fish.
However, after repeated testing in Japan and around the world, it has evolved into a highly versatile model that can also target small fish.
The target has changed to all kinds of "lurking fish" from bass in freshwater to yellowtail in saltwater.
This rod was created based on the experience of Genkiman, who goes to various places both domestically and internationally every month.
It was created based on the concept of taking only one, or if you are going to take one, this is it.
When you go on a family trip, business trip, or other short trip, you might find a good fishing spot, and you might want to swing a rod.
At such times, you can sneak it into the corner of your car, suitcase, or bag.
This time, the length is 7 feet 6 inches, so if we try to fit it into a 4-piece rod, it will exceed 60 cm.
Genkiman believes that 60 cm is a length that will not get in the way of carrying it on an airplane or hiding it in a suitcase.
Therefore, we have succeeded in making this model into a 5-piece rod while maintaining its strength and sensitivity.
The Canaria 76M is an untargeted rod that will aim at anything and everything that lurks there.
The target is up to you.
The target around the user is everything.
The Canaria 76M was created after fishing in 7 countries, including Japan, the Amazon, Hong Kong, Russia, Thailand, China, and Macau, and was repeatedly tested in various environments and fish species.
Fish caught during testing included yellowtail, Japanese amberjack, napoleon fish, silver trevally, sea bass, black porgy, pufferfish, groupers, akame, sheepshead wrasse, and black croaker in saltwater.
In freshwater, it can be used for black bass, peacock bass, small to large trout, huchen, catfish, snakehead fish, carp, etc.
This rod can be used to target a wide range of fish, from medium to large.
・Action
The rod action is a low elasticity regular taper.
The tip is soft and does not easily deflect short bites, and is strong from the belly to the butt.
This rod is designed to be used to catch fish by entangling them with the tip, hook them with the belly, and stop them with the butt.
・Casting
The maximum weight that can be cast is 3g to 60g. (Advanced users can cast up to 80g.)
Light rigs are cast with the tip, and heavy lures are cast with the weight firmly placed on the belly.
Please see the video for an explanation of the differences in casting depending on the weight.
・Usage
Basically any lure can be used.
This rod is particularly good for winding lures.
Top lures, minnows, sinking pens, spinner baits, swimming jig heads, etc.
It is good at bottom fishing for grouper, but for example fishing into holes in tetrapods requires technique.
It is good at free rig and heavy caro fishing.
It is also easy to deal with unexpected large fish.
It is a rod that imagines a C610M as a spinning rod.
It can cast to places that no one can reach, and pull it out from there, it is a rod that is delicate yet powerful.
<From Genkiman>
It is really difficult to make a versatile rod.
This model was repeatedly tested and produced in parallel with the 66ML.
The Canary 76M was finally completed after two years of casting and testing while experiencing various elements such as region, style, and fish species.
Without forgetting the concept of "If you only take one rod", we caught a variety of fish from small to large, and repeatedly fine-tuned the "tip section".
When I was able to use a 3g jig head with the bass rod and caught a bass, and then when I went to the sea and caught a sea bass over 80cm without any trouble, I thought I had made a good fish, and the final test was over.
While I was testing various things, I was surprised when I caught a yellowtail over 90cm and just under 10kg.
I had heard that there were yellowtails about 40cm long, but what I caught was a fat yellowtail of a monster size.
The line was thin, so I didn't push it, but I was able to fight it without any trouble in terms of power and catch it in my hands. (For more details, see Earth Play)
What I aimed for with this rod was to use the tip for fine movements and the belly for bold fights.
You can fight with medium-sized fish and unexpected large fish with confidence.
And while many rods of this type are lightweight, this rod is solid and heavy compared to ordinary ones.
However, because it is perfectly balanced, you don't feel the weight when you connect the rod.
And with a reel attached, it feels even lighter, so you can enjoy long periods of rod work without getting tired.
Needless to say, a rod that is only light will have less strength.
We overcome this by balancing the rod.
For me, who travels all over the world, not just in Japan, reducing strength would be suicidal.
This one rod is an excellent rod that will let you enjoy all situations, from freshwater to saltwater and even overseas fishing.
All of the Canaria series are pack rods.
The technology of today's pack rods has evolved rapidly, so they don't feel heavy to hold and they bend naturally.
Although it is a 5-piece rod, you can enjoy fishing with the same feeling as a 1-piece rod.
In fact, you will even forget that it's a pack rod when fishing.
What are you aiming for with the Canaria series?
We hope it becomes one of your favorites.
